Photographers clicked away and will get a chance to take part in the Photo Competition. The Aliwan Fiesta is an annual project of MBC with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Cities of Manila and Pasay.
Buyogan Festival of Abuyog, Leyte copped this year's million-peso championship in the Festival Dance category, with Tribu Kasag of Iloilo's Kasadyaan festival coming in second, and Tribu Paghidaet depicting the Dinagyang in third place.In the Float Design competition, Laoag successfully defended its first place standing with another robotics-inpsired tableau, this time featuirng the Abel Iloko Woven and Worn. Cotabato's Lemba placed second, while Iloilo's Dinagyang float came in third. Sian Elizabeth Maynard, representing the Sinulog festival of Cebu was crowned Festival Queen. Making up her court were Romarie Cunanan of General Santos City's Tuna festival, Kate Lao of Laoag's Pamulinawen, Parul Framil Shah of Baguio's Panagbenga, and Aliah Heitz of Kadayawan sa Davao.
As a prelude to the festival, MBC and CCP held a Forum on Streetdancing r on April 23. Mocha, Hale, Nina, and Andrew E headlined the band concert and Pasakalye contest for students on the evening of April 23. The Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines, Coco Mo Swimwear and Coconut Palace gamely supported the Search for Festival Queen, whose pageant was held on April 24, with Pinoy Dream Academy's Bugoy guesting back to back with Philippine Idol's Jan Nieto, in a program hosted by Randy Santiago and Love Radio's Nicole Hyala.
On April 25, the grand parade kicked off in front of the Aliw Theater at the CCP Complex and traversed Roxas Boulevard toward Quirino Grandstand. A glittering program comprising the awarding ceremonies was hosted by Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, with special guest performances by The Company, Lovi Poe, and the doyenne of alternative Pinoy rock - Cynthia Alexander.

This year's Aliwan Fiesta was held on April 23-25. Once again, local government units were invited to send their respective contingents to showcase the country's most popular festivals in the Philippines' grandest celebration. The sizzling summer spectacle featured competitions in streetdance, float design, and the selection of Festival Queen.
