Raniel Jose Castaneda of Sta. Ana, Manila was declared grand prize winner of the Aliwan Fiesta Photo Competition for his   entry depicting the traditional wedding dance of Hagonoy, Bulacan's Desposorio Festival.

Usialiwan_photo_competition.jpgng a Nikon D80, Castaneda lived up to the challenge of shooting at night and produced an excellent photograph showing in graphic detail Bulacan's famous singkaban folk craft which also provided the backdrop for the dance ritual.

Competition was tight, with Castaneda barely edging out second placer Von Punzalan's Escher-like image of Iloilo's Dinagyang Warriors in his entry aptly called “The Colony,” shot with a Canon 400D   Third place went to Toto Celzo for his photograph of stereetdancers from Leyte's Buyogan Festival using a Nikon D200.

Over 1490 entries were submitted, with 160 passing the preliminary screening by MBC's Ad-Prom team.   The final round was then judged by illustrative photographer Mandy Navasero, One Workshop's Ross Capili (in his capacity as member of the Executive Council of the NCCA's Committee on Visual Arts), and renowned commercial photographer Eddie Boy Escudero.
